Aston Villa officially announced Unai Emery as their new manager in a special unveiling press conference at Villa Park this afternoon. The Spaniard, who has previously managed the likes of Arsenal, Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain, spoke to the media for the first time since joining the club.
The 51-year-old outlined some key ambitions he wants to achieve but insists it will take time and patience. The Villans are of course currently struggling down in 16th place in the Premier League, with just three wins in their opening 13 matches of the campaign.

“I want to create a new way and obviously you need time. In football, time isn’t as much but I want to be here for a long time. Each step ahead my thinking is to improve. My personal dreams and ambitions - the club gave me the same idea. We want to improve as soon as possible but think with each step.
“For now, though, we have to start only thinking about the next match because we are not in a good position in the table. Each match is going to give us a lot of information from the players. I want to check the players and this match against Manchester United is my only focus right now.”
Taking on an in-form Red Devils side is quite the baptism of fire for the new man in the dugout but he already has a plan in place to give them the best chance of a good result. It is an approach that could also help the side in the long run, improving their position in the league standings.

United will be hoping to fuel their own ambitions with three points at the weekend, so Emery’s first match won’t be an easy one by any means but it is an exciting occasion nonetheless. Villa’s clash with United kicks off at 2pm on Sunday, November 4.
