Aston Villa winger Emiliano Buendia was on the end of a rough looking challenge from Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly this past weekend.

The little Argentinian was shoved to the floor midway through the second-half of their friendly match in Perth by the Ivory Coast international in a challenge that, had it been committed in the Premier League, could have easily resulted in a much different outcome.

Bailly had both hands up around the neck of Buendia and the exact moment was captured to perfection by the photographer working that day.

It is something you can look back on and laugh due to it being “friendly” game with nothing riding on it. Whether the Villa winger is or not, we don’t know, but the United centre-back is certainly having fun with it.

As shown by the picture above, Bailly took to Instagram to publicly post the image with the out of context caption, ‘we are continuing to move forward with our preseason preparations.’

The post has received plenty of traction with former Manhester City striker Wilfried Bony replying with ‘are you sure this is the league football preparation you’re showing us’ whilst Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba and former Birmingham City loanee Teden Mengi both commented loads of laughing emojis.

Young winger Amad Diallo summed it up with his response though which simply read, ‘don’t try this at home,’ - very WWE.

Buendia is probably receiving his fair share of banter from his own teammates following the incident but teammates stick together and there’s no denying that he, or one of the other claret and blue, will want to get their own back when the two meet in Premier League action in November.

Footballers don’t forget!
