Aston Villa face a deadline day battle to sign Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur both in the race for his signature, according to reports.

The 25-year-old has become a highly attractive target to some of Europe’s top teams over the course of the last couple of years and whilst Villa’s interest isn’t going away - it appears neither are a number of other clubs.

Villa have been tracking Bissouma since the summer but have yet been able to meat the Seagull’s valuation of their star man.

It is believed it would take a fee of around £40million to prize the Mali international away from the south coast but with numerous clubs now in the running - Albion’s board will be seeing those pound signs increase by the minute in their heads.

A report by RTL France suggest that there are three teams in the hot seat, Villa, Spurs and now Manchester United.

Central midfield is a position manager Steven Gerrard is extremely keen to bolster, especially after a move for Juventus midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur broke down over the last week.

However, with that said, this club won’t be held to ransom and won’t pay over the odds if they don’t think a player is worth it.

Either way, we don’t think this is the last of this story we’ll hear today.
