Manchester United join Aston Villa in race to sign Italy star in January

Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to sign Italy and Juventus winger Federico Chiesa.

Aston Villa are keen on Chiesa and were linked with a summer move for the 25-year-old. Newcastle are also said to be interested with the former Fiorentina star being heavily linked with a January move from the Turin club.

According to The Sun, United have now entered the race for the Italian with Bayern Munich also interested.

Chiesa was one of the stars in Italy’s road to glory under the guidance of former boss Roberto Mancini at Euro 2020 and the winger scored two goals whilst also winning two man of the match awards.

Chiesa’s exceptional form also earned him a place in the Euro 2020 Team of the Tournament.

The winger is renowned for his exceptional pace, skill and workrate which makes him a nightmare for defenders to deal with and during the 2020/21 campaign he was also awarded a place in the Serie A team of the season.

Chiesa has suffered with injuries since the Euros though, and he missed a lot of football last season and only returned from a ruptured ACL in November.
