Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz is a man in demand. One of the Premier League's biggest hitters - Manchester City - are said to have now joined the race for his signature as they look to bring him to the Etihad Stadium.

This is according to a report from Football Insider, who mention that Luiz will command a 'huge' fee of £100 million. The 11-cap Brazilian international has been a City player in the past, between the years of 2017 and 2019 - however, during this time, he failed to make a senior team appearance for the Sky Blues in the Premier League.

He was sold to Villa for a relatively paltry fee of £15 million in July of 2019. Since then, Luiz has gone on to make 159 appearances for the Villans, scoring 17 goals. He has been an integral cog in their machine this season - they will do whatever they can to prevent him from leaving Villa Park in the middle of the campaign.

Who else is interested in a move for Aston Villa's Douglas Luiz?

City are far from the only big club interested in bringing Luiz on board. Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for the player in recent weeks, as have Liverpool and Barcelona. Interest in Luiz is high - but as things stand, Villa and Unai Emery are remaining firm and are not being tempted by the prospect of any big-money offers.

The Gunners are thought to be leading the race to snap up Luiz, but the emergence of City in the equation could see them priced out - the Sky Blues are one of the richest clubs in the world, while Arsenal still need to recover from their high-spending summer which saw the likes of Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber arrive at the club.
