Aston Villa hope to end a three-game winless run when they face in-form Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier League.

Aston Villa and Liverpool had mixed results in the Champions League in midweek ahead of their Saturday night clash in the Premier League at Anfield.

The Reds got their week of action underway with a thumping 4-0 win over 2024 Europa League finalists Bayer Leverkusen. Luiz Diaz scored a hat-trick and Cody Gakpo continued his run of good form as they thrashed former midfielder Xabi Alonso.

Villa played a day later, and were unable to claw back top spot in the league phase which was taken away following Liverpool's resounding victory. Their bad run of form continued as they lost for the third consecutive game, succumbing to a 1-0 defeat to Club Brugge as Hans Vanaken profited from Tyrone Mings' mistake.

With both side's playing in Europe in midweek, they don't kick off until 8.00 pm on Saturday. It's designed to help player's recover after complaints from manager's who would sometimes be left playing in an early kick-off after coming back from a European game.

Ahead of both manager’s pre-match press conferences, here’s the latest team news.

Liverpool team news

Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Federico Chiesa, and Harvey Elliott are all ruled out but expected to come back after the international break.

Becker sustained a hamstring injury against Crystal Paalce at the start of October and has been sidelined since. Summer signing Chiesa has had to deal with a few knocks and niggles since coming to Anfield, and was not afforded a proper pre-season.

A rib injury sustained against Chelsea on October 20 has Jota out until Southampton. Elliott's injury is the most serious of the quartet having fractured his foot, which has kept him out for the last two months.

Out: Federico Chiesa, Alisson Becker, Harvey Elliott, and Diogo Jota.
