Jacob Ramsey update emerges amid Aston Villa exclusion at Everton

An update on Jacob Ramsey after the midfielder wasn't included in Aston Villa's squad to face Everton in the Premier League.

Jacob Ramsey has not been included in Aston Villa's matchday squad at Everton in any capacity due to a fresh injury concern, Birmingham World has been told.

The extent of the issue is not yet known but Ramsey's exclusion from the team sheet is understood to be down to an injury, not illness or any other reason. Pau Torres also misses out due to a lack of fitness. Youri Tielemans is back in the squad, though, with the Belgium international one of eight substitutes.

Unai Emery's lack of squad depth because of injuries has bene laid bare as the manager hasn't filled all nine spots on the bench. There are also three goalkeepers in the squad rather than the usual two.

With Ramsey not playing, Moussa Diaby has gained a starting spot and Leon Bailey has stepped back into a wide midfield role. John McGinn is on the other flank, while Douglas Luiz partners Boubacar Kamara in midfield. Ollie Watkins starts in the striker spot.
