Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard says there were plenty of plus points from the 2-0 win over Norwich City though admits that the side can play much, much better.

A goal and assist from substitute Danny Ings was enough to hand Villa all three points and bring their torrid five game winless run to an end.

Speaking about the performance post-match, Gerrard claimed that the result and clean-sheet were the priority, however, believes there is plenty of room to improve.

“I’ve seen us play better and not get the right result,” explained the manager.

“I thought we played well in parts today, really happy with the points and the clean sheet.

“There was some really strong individual performances within that. I thought John McGinn was outstanding.

“Danny when he came on was fantastic. Ollie [Watkins] took his goal really well and we’ve managed to keep another clean sheet so there is a lot of positives but in terms of the overall performance, I’ve seen us play better and I believe we can play better.”

Villa’s next task comes in the shape of the rapidly improving Burnley at Turf Moor, a week today.
