Aston Villa have received an uproar after announcing the prices for the upcoming Champions League home matches.

Supporters have expressed their disgust and fury at the demands from the club with the cheapest adult seats starting at £70, even for season ticket holders. The Villans, set to embark on their maiden Champions League campaign, are charging considerably more than fellow English teams competing in Europe’s elite competition.

Villa’s price range is at £70 to £82 for season ticket holders and a whopping £85 to £97 for members. Fans under the age of 18 have a fixed rate of £30 (£20 for STH) for zones two to four, while there are slight discounts for over 66s, under 21s and the armed forces.

For context, Liverpool’s cheapest adult ticket for their home Champions League games this term comes in at just £30, while Arsenal’s least expensive is merely £21.10. Drawing similar comparisons, Villa fans understandably feel priced out.

All it takes is a short read of the responses to the club’s announcement on X (formerly Twitter) to understand the gravity of the situation. For example, @gsmyly said: “These ticket prices are disgraceful. Liverpool’s most expensive CL tickets are £60. How not to reward season ticket holder’s loyalty over the years by fleecing them for all their worth for the one year we are in the Champions League.”

Another Villa supporter, @PaninaroDom, wrote: “I understand the rational (don’t agree) as the club can currently almost charge anything but many loyal fans can and will only be able to pay so much. Spoke to many old school [friends], very loyal Villa who are close to saying enough is enough.”

@AddamHewitt added: “Please, please review this. You obviously don't understand the fans at all. It's our first time back in the big time, in over 40 years, and you've used it to absolutely fleece us. I'm so angry at this, how are we supposed to afford £94 a ticket.”

@CraigavfcNealis posted: “Shocking pricing from the club! I know they want more revenue but they are pricing the normal working class people out of turning up. Pricing the people who turn up week in week out for several years. Embarrassing!”

Those are just four of the hundreds of replies Villa have had from their post - and it’s the same story across all of their other social media platforms. It awaits to be seen if the club will rectify their decision.
