£40m Barcelona swoop, Rangers ‘talks’, Emi Martinez exit - the latest on every Aston Villa transfer story

The latest news on every single Aston Villa transfer rumour so far this summer.

Aston Villa have already completed two summer signings and Unai Emery is hoping to bring in many more, with Zepiqueno Redmond lured in from Feyenoord and Marco Bizot secured from Brest.

Birmingham World understands Villa’s agreed sale of the women’s team was approved by the Premier League, meaning concerns over a potential PSR breach were waved away for another year. Great care must still be taken when considering new signings, though, as Villa are yet to conform to UEFA’s squad cost rules (SCR).

In terms of outgoings, Robin Olsen and Kortney Hause left at the end of their contracts, Philippe Coutinho’s contract has been terminated and all three loanees have returned to their parent clubs. Meanwhile, Kaine Kesler-Hayden has completed a permanent transfer to Coventry City and Louie Barry is closing in on a loan to the Championship.

Plenty more departures are possible in the coming weeks as Villa seek to adhere to SCR to avoid further punishment after two hefty fines. If the Villans fail to cooperate, there’s the possibility they could be banned from European competitions next season. Emiliano Martinez and Leon Bailey are among the high earners who could be sacrificed.

It won’t be easy for Villa to sign too many players this summer given their financial restrictions but Unai Emery is hopeful he can add quality and depth in most positions. Replacements will be targeted for Martinez and Bailey if they are to leave as expected and a Marcus Rashford alternative will be signed on the left wing.

Villa are also eager to bring in a new central defender, a right-back, a central midfielder, a number 10 and a second striker. It won’t be possible to bring in new faces in all of those positions, however, so the business needs to be shrewd and well considered.

Who could the Villans sign this summer, then? And who could depart Villa Park to raise funds? The speculation has been rife over recent days, weeks and months, so Birmingham World has done the hard yards and sourced every single rumour since March. Without further ado, here’s a full run-through.
