Aston Villa have completed the signing of Swedish international Ludwig Augustinsson from Sevilla with the club set to announce his arrival shortly.

High-profile journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the left-back has completed his medical ahead of a move to Villa Park and that it is now a ‘done deal.’

Augustinsson will sign a season-long loan with Villa with the claret and blue having the option to buy at the end of the season should they choose.

Romano states that the signing in total will be worth a ‘total potential package’ of €4.5m, which in today’s market for a man of his experience is an absolute steal.

The 28-year-old has had success in many of Europe’s biggest leagues and despite falling out of favour with Sevilla, still played a big part in their European run in the last campaign.

He’s a two-time Danish league winner with FC Copenhagen and will now join Villa to provide depth and compete with first-choice left-back Lucas Digne.

Augustinsson was a reported target for Villa’s Premier League rivals Leeds United last season before making the move to La Liga but now, a year later, gets his move to England’s top flight.

The Swede becomes the second signing Steven Gerrard has made from Sevilla this summer, joining Brazilian centre-back Diego Carlos in the West Midlands.
