Aston Villa winger Trezeguet looks set to leave the club on loan on Tuesday, according to an update from O Jogo.

The Portuguese outlet report a conversation with Istanbul Basaksehir club president Goksel Gumusdag, who has claimed that a deal to take the wide man from Villa Park to Turkey is essentially complete.

Trezeguet has been away on international duty at the African Cup of Nations with Egypt, and had to endure a heartbreaking penalty shootout defeat in the final of the tournament against Senegal on Sunday evening.

It is understood that the Pharoahs’ prolonged run in the competition has delayed a transfer that has been in the pipeline for several days, but now that the Villa talent has wrapped up his business in Cameroon, he is expected to be unveiled as a Basaksehir player imminently.

How likely is Trezeguet to leave Aston Villa?

To put it bluntly, very.

The Egyptian international may have been included in Villa’s Premier League squad for the second half of the campaign, but he finds himself beneath the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Leon Bailey, Bertrand Traore and Ollie Watkins in Steven Gerrard’s plans.

Add to that an assurance from Basaksehir boss Emre Belozoglu that a deal for the player is progressing well, plus this latest update from Gumusdag suggesting that everything is in place for a transfer to be completed, and it looks almost certain that Trezeguet will go.

The Basaksehir chief previously told NTV Spor that an agreement had already been reached with Villa last week too.

What has Gumusdag said about Trezeguet signing for Basaksehir?

The club president has made it pretty clear that he is confident the winger will be leaving Villa in the very near future.

He explained: “Trezeguet reached the AFCON final for Egypt.

“That’s why I think he will only arrive on Tuesday.”

Turkey’s transfer deadline passes on Tuesday evening, meaning that any deal for the 27-year-old will have to be completed before then.
