Gaining an early advantage in Bruges tonight would go a long way towards achieving that goal with the return leg at Villa Park penned in for next Wednesday.
Emery will without doubt be motivating his players with a reminder of what happened last time Villa visited Jan Breydel Stadium. Midway through the league phase, the Villans took a blow to their hopes of a top eight finish as Brugge won 1-0 courtesy of a controversial penalty, conceded as Tyrone Mings picked up the ball in a mix-up with goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
With revenge in order, Emery has opted for a very strong lineup with four changes from the team which beat Cardiff City 2-0 on Friday night. Axel Disasi, Tyrone Mings, Lucas Digne and Morgan Rogers come into the XI in place of Andres Garcia, Lamare Bogarde, Ian Maatsen and Marco Asensio.
