Aston Villa are back out on the road in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon as they take on Burnley at Turf Moor.

Fresh off the back of a 4-0 win over Everton and an even bigger 5-0 victory against Hibernian, Unai Emery’s side are full of confidence but have their fair share of injury issues heading into this weekend.

Emiliano Martinez has become the latest doubt after he reported a small pain and was substituted at half time at Easter Road on Wednesday.

Emery’s body language in the press conference suggested it wasn’t anything to be overly concerned about but the World Cup winner is doubtful nonetheless.

Àlex Moreno (hamstring) and Jacob Ramsey (ankle) are making good progress but will still be sidelined for another week or two. Philippe Coutinho (hamstring) and Leander Dendoncker (muscular) have the same fate.

Tyrone Mings and Emiliano Buendía are both ruled out indefinitely after sustaining similar severe knee injuries earlier in August.

The Clarets also have a few concerns but have a far shorter list than Villa. Central defender Jordan Beyer wasn’t spotted in training on Thursday but should be fine to play on Sunday, whereas Republic of Ireland international forward Michael Obafemi is still recovering after undergoing hamstring surgery.

Winger Anass Zaroury is suspended after he saw red for a horror tackle on Kyle Walker in the Premier League season opener against Manchester City.

North Macedonian winger Darko Churlinov is expected to be back to fitness in October after a bout of sepsis earlier in the calendar year.

Ruled out: Obafemi, Zaroury, Churlinov. Doubts: Beyer.
