Latest injury and team news ahead of Brighton & Hove Albion v Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Aston Villa hope to put their Europa Conference League disappointment behind them when they travel to face Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Sunday (May 5).

Villa suffered a 4-2 defeat to Olympiacos in the first leg of their semi-final tie. Ollie Watkins and Moussa Diaby were on target by a hat-trick from Ayoub El Kaabi and a header from Santiago Hezze meant that the Greek side have the advantage going in to next week's tie at the Karaiskakis Stadium.

Some good news came from Thursday night though and that was Chelsea defeating Spurs 2-0 at Stamford Bridge. Tottenham Hotspur were playing one of their two games in hand over Villa but lost and now they only have one more remaining match than them and are seven points behind. Villa have nine more points to play for this season with Tottenham playing for 12 and a Champions League spot could be wrapped up in the next fortnight.

Brighton are the team that could face a response from Villa and they've had a disappointing campaign. They were knocked out of Europe by Roma in March and are currently 12th in the league standings.

The Seagulls have had their fair share of injuries this season whilst the Villains have their own injuries to attend to. Here’s the latest injury and team news ahead of kick-off.

Aston Villa team news

Boubacar Kamara, Emi Buendia, Jacob Ramsey and Tyrone Mings are out for the rest of the season. Kamara suffered a serious knee injury in February and had to undergo surgery which will put him out until October.

Buendia and Mings both suffered knee injuries in August and have been out for the whole of the campaign. Mings suffered his in Villa's first game of the season and despite the pair returning to training, they will play no part this term.

Jacob Ramsey has a toe injury that has put him out for the last few weeks. Ramsey won't recover in time to make another appearance this term.

Alex Moreno has been out for the last three weeks with a calf injury and is closing in on a return. He didn't play against Olympiacos but was described as 'close' to coming back. Robin Olsen deputised for Emi Martinez who was suspended against Olympiacos but is also dealing with a thigh injury. He is likely to miss this weekend but is targeting playing in the second leg next Thursday.

Youri Tielemans has a reported groin injury though it is not thought to be serious. Unlikely to play this weekend but could come back for the league game against Liverpool.

Brighton team news

Several players for Brighton have played their last game this season. Evan Ferguson has a foot injury that has him ruled out as well as Solomon March who has spent a long time on the sidelines. Jack Hinshelwood and Pervis Estupinan have injuries that have kept them out for a month and a bit. Karou Mitoma is dealing with a back injury and that's him out for the campaign.

Tariq Lamptey could return for their final fixture but it's a muscular injury he is contending with. Jan Paul van Hecke didn't play against Bournemouth last week and so he's a player that will continue to be looked at. James Milner has a hamstring injury but he's in contention to return this weekend.
