Aston Villa made it back-to-back victories for the first time since Steven Gerrard’s first two games in charge thanks to an emphatic 4-0 win over Southampton.
Danny Ings completed the rout against his old club whilst Philippe Coutinho, Douglas Luiz and Ollie Watkins all got themselves on the score-sheet.
It was a highly impressive display from Villa but Gerrard called for calm post-match, adding that it was simply two wins off of the back of a bad a run of form.
It’s a performance that the manager wants to see consistently week in and week out, not just every now and then.

Didn’t have much to do but did pull off a great save to deny Che Adams in the second-half.
2. Matty Cash - 7.5
A solid game from Cash who looked much better going forward. An assist and a clean sheet is nothing to complain about as a defender.
3. Tyrone Mings - 7
Solid performance from the captain but like his keeper, was kept quiet by a sub par Southampton.
4. Calum Chambers - 7
Impressive to come in in Ezri Konsa’s place and put in such an assured performance.
