Chelsea have been tipped as the latest club to rival Spurs, with both London clubs now pursuing Wolves winger Adama Traore.

Spurs have been long-term admirers of Traore, with Antonio Conte reportedly looking to play the former Middlesbrough man as a wing-back.

Conte has implemented his tried and trusted five at the back formation, one that has bought him great success with Chelsea and Inter Milan.

The Italian, who replaced the sacked Nuno Espiritio Santo, has deployed both Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty in the position, and is reportedly seeking a replacement, and one that can prove a threat going forward.

When Liverpool wanted to sign Traore, after a stellar season in the Premier League with four goals and nine assists in the 2019/2020 season, the then Premier League champions were put off by the high asking fee that Wolves placed on Traore’s head.

Traore has never voiced his concerns at not getting a move, but his poor output in the league since that 2019/20 season has seen Wolves reportedly lower their asking price to £20 million.

Under Conte, who has a proven track record of making players perform at a higher level - such as Ben Davies and Eric Dier - may be the man to get the best out of Traore, who, if he could just make his decision making better and improve on his final ball, would be one of the most dangerous players in the league.

With Conte wanting to play him wing-back, The Telegraph have today reported that Spurs want Traore on loan, with an option to buy should be proved to be successful in the position.

Chelsea also are interested in the winger, with The Sun reporting that Thomas Tuchel is an ‘admirer’ of the player. With Reece James potentially out of action for two months, the Wolves ace could provide an ideal replacement, and potentially compete with the Blues’ formidable attacking line in the future.

However, Wolves manager Bruno Lage said he is happy with Traore, and hopes to hang onto the winger, and has claimed a transfer will only occur if “it’s good for the club and it’s good for the player.”
