Premier League rivals show interest in loan star

Philippe Coutinho has impressed during the early stages of his loan spell with Aston Villa and has quickly become a key part of Steven Gerrard’s plans.

The on-loan Barcelona midfielder has scored two goals and provided two assists during the first four appearances following his return to the Premier League.

It is believed Villa have an option to make the move a permanent one this summer for a set fee of around £33.4million - but Coutinho’s form has alerted Premier League rivals Arsenal and West Ham United according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

However, due to the option placed in the initial loan deal, neither club would be able to move for the Brazilian until Villa make a decision over a permanent switch.

Villa are reportedly set to offer a new contract to midfielder John McGann as the midfielder continues to draw interest from a number of Premier League clubs.

The Scottish international’s current deal expires in the summer of 2025 and is believed to be on Manchester United’s radar as they look to revive their midfield this summer.

But Liverpool are the latest club to show an interest in McGinn according to the Mirror and that could lead to a hastening of talks over extending his current deal at Villa Park.

Gerrard willing to listen to offers for winger

Steven Gerrard is hoping to let winger Bertrand Traore depart Villa Park this summer after failing to offload the former Lyon winger last month.

It is two years since Traore joined Villa from the Ligue 1 outfit in a £17million deal and he has scored eight goals in 45 appearances during his time with the club.

However, Football Insider have reported Gerrard will allow Traore to move on in either a loan or permanent deal at the end of the season.
