Aston Villa and Everton face one another for the second time in the space of six weeks as they meet in the Carabao Cup Third Round on Wednesday.
The Villans won the previous encounter by four goals to nil and will be hoping for a similar result as Unai Emery’s men look to advance.
The Toffees will be buoying with some renewed confidence, however, as they beat Brentford 3-1 away from home at the weekend.
Everton just about edge Villa on the injury news front, with four players on the list as opposed to the five of this week’s hosts. Here’s a full run-through.
1. Emi Buendia (Aston Villa) - ruled out
Suffered a season-ending knee injury in August.
2. Tyrone Mings (Aston Villa) - ruled out
Very similar problem to Buendia and is ruled out for the campaign.
3. Bertrand Traore (Aston Villa) - doubt
Was described 10 days ago as being ‘close’ to a return but hasn’t featured in the matchday squad since.
4. Alex Moreno (Aston Villa) - ruled out
The left-back has suffered a hamstring setback and won’t be available for at least another week.
