Aston Villa vs Brighton team news: Starting lineups named for ‘vital’ Premier League clash

Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion have named their starting lineups and substitutes ahead of today’s early Premier League kick-off.

Potentially one of the games of the season so far given the forms of both teams, the result could have huge implications further down the line for the battle for Europe.

The Villans and the Seagulls suffered blows midweek as they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Everton and Chelsea respectively.

There’s a rapid opportunity to respond now, though, with Unai Emery and Roberto De Zerbi keen to get points on the board and continue their top six charges.

Brighton are in third place and three places ahead of Villa ahead of this one but they will be level on points after today if the hosts come out on top.
