Aston Villa resume their Premier League 2023/24 campaign when they host West Ham at Villa Park on Sunday, October 22.
The international period has seen England book their place at EURO 2024, and Ollie Watkins was a part of the Three Lions squad that qualified. He featured and scored the only goal of the game as they beat Australia in their warm-up match at Wembley Stadium before qualifying on Tuesday night.
A total of 10 players went away on international duty over the October break, and it was Emiliano Martinez who played the most minutes, featuring in both of Argentina's 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Pau Torres was called up to represent Spain, but he failed to feature in both of their games, however that should mean he's fresh to play for his club at the weekend.
Jhon Duran was on the South American continent, whilst Leon Bailey featured for Jamaica, playing a total of 115 minutes over two games. As for West Ham, they had 11 players called up, and there was Nayef Aguerd, Tomas Soucek and Konstantinos Mavropanos who all played 90 minutes in both games. First-choice goalkeeper Alphone Areola was the only player that didn't play any minutes as he had to watch on from the sidelines having been called up for France.
Flick through to see the latest injury and team news of both Aston Villa and West Ham. It includes who’s out, who’s a doubt and some thoughts that could come into Unai Emery’s thinking going into the game.

1. Alex Moreno - doubt
Alex Moreno hasn’t played for Villa since the end of last season against Liverpool. He did feature in squads against Crystal Palace, and Legia Warsaw but so far hasn’t played. 2. Aaron Cresswell - doubt
He’s yet to play in the Premier League this season, and has been limited to one 45-minute outing in the Europa League. He’s dealing with a hamstring injury, and has ‘recovered well’ over the international break. | AFP via Getty Images Photo: HENRY NICHOLLS/AFP via Getty Images)

3. Jacob Ramsey - out
Ramsey suffered a foot injury in the summer and that ruled him out for 10 weeks. He’s made three appearances this term, but after scoring against Brighton, he complained of a knock. He missed the win over Zrinjski Mostar, and the Wolves draw and is expected to miss out this weekends clash. | Getty Images Photo: Nathan Stirk/Getty Images)

4. Ben Johnson - doubt
Ben Johnson suffered a groin injury in early October, and the international break has acted as a recovery period. He didn’t feature last time out, and David Moyes will have a decision to make on his fitness. | Getty Images Photo: Matt McNulty/Getty Images)
