Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspur injury news - as four players ruled out and one doubt
and live on Freeview channel 276
It’s the equivalent of a cup final in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon as Aston Villa take on Tottenham Hotspur in a six-pointer at Villa Park. Both teams are gunning for European qualification but the likelihood is one will miss out, with Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool leading the way statistically heading into the final few matches.
Villa have been handed a huge boost ahead of this weekend’s clash as just one player is ruled out, while the rest of the squad is fit and available. It’s the first time in a long while that Unai Emery hasn’t been hindered by injuries and it couldn’t have come at much of a better time given the importance of Saturday’s fixture.

Hide AdBoubacar Kamara and Leon Bailey returned to action with minutes off the bench at Wolves, whereas Philippe Coutinho was an unused substitute at Molineux. Matty Cash has now had a week of full training, meaning he is ready to get involved. That means Jed Steer is the only one who remains sidelined as he continues his recovery from a serious Achilles’ tendon injury.
Tottenham, meanwhile, have a contrasting situation as a number of key players won’t be able to feature. Central defender Clement Lenglet went off against Crystal Palace with a shoulder issue but he should be fine to play this weekend. The same cannot be said for goalkeeper Hugo Lloris (thigh), however, as the club captain has been ruled out for the rest of the campaign.
Versatile wing-back Ryan Sessegnon (also thigh) is another player set to miss Spurs’ remaining Premier League fixtures, whereas Rodrigo Bentancur is out indefinitely with a knee problem. Giving an update on May 5, head coach Ryan Mason said of Bentancur: “He’s making progress but at the moment, it’s probably too early to set a return date.”
Ruled out: Steer (AVL); Lloris, Sessegnon, Bentancur (TOT).
Doubts: Lenglet (TOT).
