The match takes place on Wednesday, October 30 with a kick-off time of 7.45 pm.

Will it be on TV and can I stream it?

Yes. It's not the chosen game with Spurs against Man City the main televised fixture. Sky Sports has a commitment to streaming more EFL games than ever and so Villa's match will be on Sky Sports+.

Is there VAR?

Despite Aston Villa having the capability to do it, VAR will not be in use for tonight’s match. Preston North End host Arsenal, and they are a Championship club so they have no VAR facilities. As a result, all eight ties will be played without a video assistant referee.

The Carabao Cup final is the only time in the competition that it is guaranteed that there will be a video assistant referee.

Is there extra time and penalties?

Should the game finish level after 90 minutes then the tie will go straight to a penalty shootout until there is a victor.

Who is the referee?

Sam Barrott is the referee, he will be assisted by Simon Bennett, and Wade Smith with Craig Pawson acting as the fourth official. Barrott has done six games this season, brandishing 36 yellow cards. He hasn't done a Villa match this term, but was the referee for Palace's 2-1 defeat to Brentford on the opening weekend of the season.

His last Villa match was their 4-2 win over Nottingham Forest in late February 2024. He hails from Yorkshire.
