The January transfer window has come to a close and for Aston Villa, it’s been a hectic one.
From grabbing worldwide headlines when landing the loan signature of Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho to duping everyone once again when announcing the surprise signing of centre-back Calum Chambers on a permanent deal - it’s had a bit of everything.
Villa’s aim this season was to simply improve on the last. The ambitions of those running the club are sky high and when expectations weren’t being met we saw the departure of Dean Smith and the arrival of current manager Steven Gerrard.
Gerrard has had just two months in the job and his dealings in the January window certainly reflect those of a man with ambition parallel to the powers that be.
Smart with incomings and pretty ruthless when it comes to outgoings.
In case you missed anything this month, here’s the full list of dealings done down at Villa Park.
