Aston Villa have enjoyed a relaxed yet efficient transfer window as Unai Emery has been working hard on tweaking his squad during his first full summer at the club.
The priorities have undoubtedly been bringing in quality over quantity, filling gaps, and letting players who were surplus to requirements depart. With that in mind, it’s been quite a success.

Hide AdFour long-term signings have been completed by the Villans so far, while eight players have left the club – two on season-long loans and five others on a permanent basis.
Around £86 million has been spent, whereas around £35.5 million has been recouped in sales. This equates to a net spend of roughly £51.5 million for Emery’s side so far this summer.

The Villans have completed four signings in the summer window to date.
- Moussa Diaby – £50 million; in from Bayer Leverkusen; permanent until June 2028.
- Pau Torres – £32 million; in from Villarreal; permanent until June 2028.
- Youri Tielemans – free transfer; in from Leicester City; permanent until June 2027.
- Nicolò Zaniolo – £4 million season-long loan; in from Galatasaray; option to buy clause included.

There have been a total of eight departures since July 1.
- Cameron Archer – £18.5 million; sold to Sheffield United; buy-back clause included.
- Aaron Ramsey – £14 million; sold to Burnley; buy-back clause included.
- Marvelous Nakamba – £3 million; sold to Luton Town.
- Wesley Moraes – undisclosed fee but likely free; sold to Stoke City.
- Morgan Sanson – season-long loan to OGC Nice.
- Viljami Sinisalo – season-long loan to Exeter City.
- Ashley Young – contract expired; now at Everton.
- Jed Steer – contract expired; currently unemployed.

Hide Ad- Clement Lenglet – negotiations have begun with Barcelona over the potential signing of the central defender before the deadline.
- Emile Smith-Rowe – the Arsenal winger is expected to stay at the Emirates Stadium this summer but Villa have made a loan enquiry.
- Marcos Acuña – reports in Spain suggest the World Cup winner, a left-back, has been in talks over a move to B6. Has had recent injury troubles, though.
- Abde Ezzalzouli – another Barça man but this time a winger, Villa are among a large group of European sides interested.

Plenty of links have been made to players currently on Villa’s books.
- Lucas Digne – has been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia but Emery may have changed his mind after a hat-trick of assists vs Hibernian.
- Keinan Davis – the 25-year-old striker was on the verge of joining Hull City for a fee in the region of £2 million but is now subject to an offer from Swansea City, as per The Athletic.
- Jaden Philogene – on the verge of completing a £5 million permanent transfer to Hull City, even despite impressing in pre-season.
- Tim Iroegbunam – isn’t in Emery’s plans for the season ahead and could go on loan again. Rangers and QPR have been linked.
- Leander Dendoncker – having moved down in the midfield pecking order, Villa are willing to listen to offers for the Belgian.
