Aston Villa are back in action on Sunday when they face an in form Chelsea side.

Villa have been hard to beat themselves over recent weeks, now on a run of four games without defeat, but they have found wins hard to come by this season. Steven Gerrard’s men have won just twice so far this term, and they need to pick up form if they want to avoid getting dragged into the relegation battle early on.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have now won each of their last four games, picking up form under Graham Potter, and they will present a stern test.

Here we round up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Villa Park.

Chukwuemeka revelation

Carney Chukwuemeka is said to have rejected a huge offer from Aston Villa to seal his move away. Chukwuemeka ended up joining Chelsea in the summer after moving into the final year of his Villa contract.

The young midfielder did not want to pen new terms, and Villa moved to maximise profit from the young talent. But Evening Standard have now revealed that Villa actually offered £100,000-per-week, placing a huge deal on the table. Chukwuemeka rejected the deal and joined Chelsea.

Former Villa star Gabriel Agbonlahor has told his former club to sign Watford striker Ismaila Sarr in the January transfer window.

“We lack pace,” he told Football Insider. “There was talk of Sarr coming in and he didn’t come. We are crying out for someone like him who can open up defences with speed. It’s just a shame at the moment to see how my team play.”

Sarr was linked with the likes of Villa and Newcastle in the summer window, but he ended up staying at Watford. Though, he could well become a target for clubs again in the winter.
