Aston Villa have been directly told what they must do to sign a midfielder reportedly offered to Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Villans, having registered an interest in out-of-sorts Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Carlos Soler, are said to now know all the conditions required to strike a deal.

The 14-time Spain international played just 24 times in Ligue 1 throughout the season just gone, with most of his appearances off the bench. The likes of Vitinha, Warren Zaïre-Emery and Fabian Ruiz have all been preferred in the centre of midfield, meaning Soler has sometimes had to fill in at full-back just to gain minutes.

It was hoped the last campaign would act as a breakthrough opportunity for Soler in Paris but it was groundhog day from the previous season, one he also featured mainly as a substitute. The heights of scoring 11 goals in consecutive La Liga terms at Valencia haven’t been hit again and it’s been a frustrating period.

French outlet Foot Mercato reports Villa have been offered the opportunity to give Soler some respite with a temporary deal on the cards. PSG have asked Unai Emery’s side to take the versatile midfielder on loan for the season, paying a fraction of his £80,000-per-week wages in return.

Premier League rivals could swoop for Soler

Arsenal and Tottenham are also said to have been offered the player’s services for the season, two other potential routes into the Premier League. A permanent sale would be welcomed by PSG if the price was right but Soler himself is claimed to be against that idea.

Although not managing to do so in his first two seasons, the player hopes he can eventually become a starter at Parc des Princes. A loan move away could provide the platform to regain his form, while also helping out whichever club decides to take him.
