Aston Villa are leading the race to sign out-of-favour Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to the bookmakers.

Chamberlain is heavily rumoured to be heading for an Anfield exit this summer after falling drastically down the pecking order this season and a move at this stage, seems a lot more likely than not.

The England international still has a year left on his deal with the Reds so would require a fee but shouldn’t be one that would break the bank.

At the time of writing, Villa are favourites for the former Arsenal man at 3/1 with next in line being another of his former teams, Southampton, at 5/1.

Steven Gerrard is keen to bolster all areas of his team and if the price is right, it is a signing that could work for the claret and blue, despite the Ox’s recent lack of game time.

Luis Suarez edging closer?

Another man that has been heavily linked since the arrival of Gerrard is Uruguay and Atletico Madrid striker Suarez and it’s a rumour that refuses to go away.

Villa are now comfortably leading the race for his signature according to the bookmakers and have moved to odds on favourites at 8/11 with nearest rivals being Inter Milan way out at 6/1.

A Suarez, Gerrard reunion would be one for the ages but would of course have a knock-on effect for a number of the current playing squad such as Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins.

Gerrard has stated a number of times that Watkins is absolutely not for sale though it could leave the door slightly ajar from Ings if the move was to come to fruition.
