Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard makes just one change from the side that drew 3-3 with Leeds United.

Calum Chambers has been brought into the starting eleven to make his full debut for the claret & blue in place of Ezri Konsa who misses out through suspension.

Emiliano Buendia was a huge doubt ahead of the contest with a knock he suffered to his hip in the midweek draw but the good news for Villa fans is that he has been deemed fit enough and gets the nod from the off.

The team in full then sees Emi Martinez keep his place in goal with a back four of Matty Cash, Tyrone Mings, Chambers and Lucas Digne.

It’s the same midfield three and strike force with John McGinn, Douglas Luiz and Jacob Ramsey playing in the central areas behind Buendia, Ollie Watkins and Philippe Coutinho.

Matt Targett is ineligible to suit up in this one for the Magpies due to the terms of his loan agreement whilst the hosts’ captain, Jamaal Lascelles also misses out through illness.
