Sky Sports in the United Kingdom are reporting that there is a €12m (£10.2m) release clause in Dybala's contract which runs until July 31.

Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur were all contacted about his availability last summer, but he stayed put in the Italian capital. Dybala was linked with a move to Fenerbahce but former boss Jose Mourinho ruled out signing any Roma players following his spell at the Stadio Olimpico.

News of Dybala entertaining a move to England would represent a considerable u-turn from his apparent stance just a few days ago. Sky Sports in Italy claimed that Roma did not want to part with the Argentine. Dybala apparently met with the owners and the manager Daniele de Rossi and would considered more prominently in his plans for next season.

He is entering the final year of his contract at Roma after joining two seasons ago. Roma were said to be considering increasing Dybala's wages to €8 million net per season which is around £6.8m a year.

The 30-year-old has just come off the back of a season where he has registered 16 goals and 10 assists. Roma finished sixth in Serie A and will play in the Europa League league phase next season.

Villa might not end up pursuing a move for Dybala however as he does play in a similar position to Ross Barkley who is expected to return to Villa Park last summer. Fabrizio Romano claimed that Villa and Luton Town had a verbal agreement over a £5m deal which is due to be concluded at the beginning of July.

Dybala could end up signing should Unai Emery favour creating more squad depth and they are already a midfielder down after Nicolo Zaniolo's loan spell expired. The 24-year-old is subject of transfer interest from Emery's former club Villarreal.
