This Aston Villa starlet on loan in the Championship hobbled off with an injury during Middlesbrough vs Norwich City.

Aston Villa youngster Aaron Ramsey has suffered a new injury during his loan spell at Middlesbrough having hobbled off during Friday night’s play-off crunch clash against Norwich City.

The 20-year-old, who actually spent the first half of the season on loan at Norwich before initially being sent back to Villa with a knee injury, scored on the night to make it 1-0 within just six minutes.

Ramsey was taken off as the clock struck 25, however, after being caught by a heavy challenge from Canaries defender Max Aarons. The right-back slid in and caused Ramsey’s ankle to twist in mid-air.

After some light treatment from Boro’s medical staff, the Villa loanee tried to carry on, but as soon as he returned to the field of action he knew his night was up as he fell back to the ground.

“It could be a little bit of ligament damage there,” one of the Sky Sports commentators said with doubt while re-watching the incident.

Replaced by Alex Mowatt, Ramsey’s race was indeed run. Although he’s not currently with Villa and won’t be until the start of the next campaign, this will no doubt cause concern.

Not only will it reduce his minutes before the end of the season - if not end them completely - but it could stump his progress after a run of impressive form.

Ramsey has scored a total of seven goals in 28 Championship appearances this season, with four of those coming in his last 10 games in a Middlesbrough shirt.

The England U20 international, who has also notched six assists this term, will be eager to get back to fitness in time for the play-offs in May if Boro qualify.
