Aston Villa are reportedly monitoring Galatasaray right-back Sacha Boey closely, with a scout sent to Turkey to watch a recent fixture against Kasimpasa. With veteran right-back Ashley Young turning 38 in July, Unai Emery is said to have made the position a priority area in his summer recruitment plan.

Even with Young still performing to a high standard, it makes sense for The Villans to add depth at the right side of defence. They may face competition if Boey is the man they go for, however, as Premier League title challengers Arsenal are also interested in signing the France U20 international.

This is according to Turkish outlet Milliyet, with a report stating Villa “sent a scout” to watch the player in the Super Lig on Saturday. Newcastle United and Crystal Palace have also been closely linked with Boey, though there’s nothing to suggest either side went as far as to send a member of staff to watch him.

Having featured in 21 league matches out of a possible 24 this season, Boey has been a key player for a Galatasaray side currently leading the Super Lig standings. With 19 wins and just two defeats, as well as an impressive division-low of 17 goals conceded, it comes as no surprise that one of their star men has gathered interest from the Premier League.
