Aston Villa needed no reminder of the summer transfer window swinging open.

Steven Gerrard and his recruitment staff had already managed three new signings ahead of the window officially opening.

Philippe Coutinho, Boubacar Kamara and Diego Carlos all agreed deals to be Villa players next season and beyond.

And it has been a terrific start to the window for Villa, who are looking to put a disappointing campaign in the rear-view mirror.

More arrivals are expected, though, and we could also see a number of departures as Gerrard looks to put his own stamp on his squad.

With that in mind, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Villa Park.

Trezeguet offer

Villa are said to have received an offer for out of favour winger Mahmoud Trezeguet.

The 27-year-old fell out of favour at Villa Park but impressed in the second half of this season during a loan spell with Istanbul.

The Egyptian has scored six and assisted four in just 13 SuperLig appearances, and those performances have seen him attract interest, according to the latest reports.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Trabzonspor have now made an offer to sign the player.

But it’s not only the Turkish giants who are interested, with Romano writing: “Trabzonspor have made an official proposal to Aston Villa for Mahmoud Trezeguet.

“Negotiations are set to begin. There are also other clubs interested in Trezeguet from Turkey and different leagues."

Archer interest

In another possible departure, young Villa frontman Cameron Archer is said to be attracting interest this summer.

Archer spent the second half of last season out on loan with Preston, and it seems his performances have been good enough to attract fresh interest.

Another loan move is likely, and talkSPORT are saying Rangers have expressed an interest.

Middlesbrough and Watford have also been linked with a loan move ahead of the new season.
