And they will be looking to build on that result with a win over relegation-threatened Burnley on Thursday night.

They will then have another chance to have a say in the title race, set to face leaders Manchester City on the final day of the season, on Sunday.

Villa lost to Liverpool last week, but Gerrard will need his side to prevent City from winning if he is to send the title to Anfield.

In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours.

Suarez is out of contract at Atletico Madrid this summer and it has already been confirmed that he is leaving.

The striker has spent the last two years with Atleti, winning the La Liga title along the way, but he has now been left looking for a new club at the age of 36.

According to 90min, Villa are now chasing a deal for Suarez, who is likely to have options this summer.

The report claims Gerrard is ready to begin talks with Suarez and his representatives, and the Lions are already free to agree a pre-contract agreement.

Jose Mourinho and Roma are said to be eyeing a move for Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz this summer.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport via Football Italia, Mourinho is looking to add depth to his midfield, and Luiz has popped up on his radar.

Luiz is could be sold this summer, with his current contract at Villa Park set to end in 2023.

Gerrard will want to put his own stamp on his squad this summer, and Luiz could be an easy way to raise additional money.

The Brazilian made the move to the midlands in 2019, and he is said to be valued at somewhere close to £30million despite arriving at the club for less than half of that amount.
