Aston Villa have landed the attacker on loan until the summer

Aston Villa have brought in Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford on loan until the end of the season. They have landed the attacker to boost their options going forward.

The England international has linked up with the Midlands outfit on a temporary basis to get some confidence back. He has been frozen out at Old Trafford over recent times.

Aston Villa will hope that he can hit the ground running immediately in the Midlands. Unai Emery’s side are aiming to get into the Champions League again this season.

Marcus Rashford on Aston Villa plans

Aston Villa will provide Rashford with a platform to show what he can do again. It has been a tricky past couple of seasons for him at United.

He has said: “It’s an ambitious time for this club and a great opportunity for me to join the team and help them keep pushing forward. I’m excited, can’t wait for the first training session and obviously the first game. (Unai Emery is) a top manager and what he’s done at the club since he’s come to Villa is unbelievable.

“It’s the constant ambition that’s attractive, and it’s why you want to join such a club. You want to keep improving year on year, and that’s what the team has been doing and are doing this year."

Rashford added: “It’s a club that’s in a good position in the league, and they’re pushing to get higher. Still in the Champions League, a good, ambitious manager and great talent in the squad.

“I’ve had to choose somewhere where I feel my style of football is suited to, and can help them and help me rediscover and improve as a player. Obviously it’s only short-term I’m here, so I want to make the most of my time here, and the only way to do that is by using my attributes and my skill set to help the team.”

He continued: “I know I can hurt teams, I know when I’m playing at my best, I can decide football games. That’ll be my only ambition and only goal, to help the team win more games, more points and hopefully create history.”

Marcus Rashford ready for new Aston Villa challenge

Rashford, who is from Wythenshawe, has made 60 caps for England to date. He has made 426 appearances for Manchester United to date and has scored 138 goals.

He said earlier this winter that he was ready for a new challenge: "If I know that a situation is already bad I'm not going to make it worse. I've seen how other players have left in the past and I don't want to be that person. When I leave I'll make a statement and it will be from me.

"When I leave it's going to be 'no hard feelings'. You're not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That's me as a person. For me, personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps."

Aston Villa are back in action this weekend with an FA Cup fourth round tie against Tottenham Hotspur. They then face Ipswich Town in their next league game following their 2-0 loss at Wolves.
