Aston Villa return to home soil on Saturday afternoon as they play host to Crystal Palace in the Premier League. Unai Emery’s side will be keen to build on their 2-0 win over Everton with another positive result, whereas Crystal Palace are hoping to earn their first victory in 2023.
The Villans were much improved last time out - especially defensively - as they ran out victors at Goodison Park, inflicting further pressure on the relegation-threatened Toffees. Goals from Ollie Watkins and Emiliano Buendia sealed the deal to soar Villa to a points total of 31 after 24 games played.
Palace look like a difficult side to beat but the fact that they are the only Premier League team without a win in the new year makes for very poor reading. The Eagles have only last one of their last five games, drawing four – with the most impressive result of the bunch holding Liverpool to a 0-0 stalemate last Saturday.
It is expected Emery will line up with a similar starting XI to the team that beat Everton but there could be some changes, with a couple of players underperforming somewhat of late. With that in mind, here is the starting squad we think Villa will rock up with. See below.
