Aston Villa have postponed Steven Gerrard’s pre-match press conference ahead of Leicester City as the country sits and waits for further news surrounding this weekend’s football fixtures following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Gerrard’s media duties were due to take place first thing this morning but have now been pushed back to 13:45 this afternoon.

Hide AdThere has been no official confirmation as of yet as to whether or not this weekend’s fixtures will be fulfilled, however, the expectation is that for this week at least - all sporting fixtures will stop as a mark of respect.
Friday evening’s games in the EFL between Burnley and Norwich City and Tranmere Rovers and Stockport County have both been postponed.
What we know so far
The EFL released a statement on Thursday evening confirming that all of Friday’s scheduled fixtures will be postponed and that a decision surrounding Saturday’s and beyond will be made on Friday morning.
The statement reads as follows:
“As a mark of respect, following the passing of Her Majesty, The Queen Elizabeth II earlier today, the EFL has confirmed that its fixtures scheduled for Friday evening have been postponed.

Hide Ad“A determination regarding the remainder of this weekend’s scheduled fixtures will be made following a review of official mourning guidance, in addition to further consulation with DCMS and other sports on Friday morning.”
A meeting is to get underway at 09:00 with a decision expected soon after.
