It has already been an exciting close-season for Aston Villa and their supporters.
Steven Gerrard has wasted little in strengthening his squad ahead of his first season in charge at Villa Park with several eye-catching signings already secured.
The former Liverpool and England midfielder kicked off his summer recruitment by converting loan moves for Philippe Coutinho and Robin Olsen into permanent deals.
Gerrard then fought off competition from a number of clubs around Europe to secure the services of Marseille’s highly-rated defensive midfielder Boubacar Kamara on a free transfer.
And the spending continued when Villa paid just under £28million to complete the signing of Sevilla’s Brazilian centre-back Diego Carlos.
Further signings are in the pipeline as Gerrard looks to push his side into the top ten and make an impact in next season’s Premier League.
That will mean relying on the considerable wealth of owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens - but how does their net value compare to owners of their fellow Premier League clubs?
BirminghamWorld takes a look.
