Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins remains a major doubt ahead of Wednesday's difficult trip to Premier League title challengers Manchester City.

The England international didn't reemerge for the second half on Saturday as Villa beat local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers by two goals to nil. Anyone assuming it was an injury was correct as Unai Emery confirmed post-match Watkins had sustained a hamstring issue, set to be investigated further on Sunday.

"He was feeling something in his hamstring," Emery said during the press conference. "At the beginning he was telling us that he could carry on playing. The doctor told us it was better to not play with risk. We decided to stop him. Tomorrow he will have a scan," Emery explained.

With 16 goals and 10 assists in 30 appearances, Watkins has more direct goal involvements in the Premier League than anyone else this season. He'd undoubtedly be a huge miss, especially with fixtures against LOSC Lille and Arsenal in the next two weeks.

Fantasy Premier League players looking to make a decision are advised to wait until Tuesday afternoon, when Emery will likely confirm the extent of the 28-year-old's problem. Though it's highly improbable he'll feature against City as risks weren't taken over the weekend.

If Watkins does indeed miss the visit to the Etihad Stadium, Jhon Duran is the likeliest replacement. The Colombian has played second fiddle to his striking counterpart this campaign but has done fairly well when called upon, albeit often showing his rawness.
