Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has provided an important update surrounding the availability of a number of key players ahead of Villa’s midweek clash with Leeds United.
The claret & blue went into the South American international break light on numbers due to a combination of AFCON absentees and long-term injuries.

Injury: Thigh strain
What we know: Bailey returned to full contact training at Bodymoor Heath this week according to Steven Gerrard.
The Leeds United game will come too soon for him but within “7-10 days” he should be back and available for selection.
Potential return date: Watford (H) 19th February
Bertrand Traore
Injury: N/A
What we know: Traore has been away at AFCON captaining his country, Burkina Faso.

Trezeguet
Injury: N/A
What we know: Gerrard confirmed that the Egyptian has joined Turkish side İstanbul Başakşehir on loan until the end of the season.
Potential return date: Summer. Providing all goes well with his loan move, he won’t return to Villa Park until the summer.
Marvelous Nakamba
Injury: Knee
What we know: Nakamba now remains the only long term absentee on the treatment table at Villa Park. The Zimbabwean picked up a serious knee injury in December that was expected to keep him out for around 3-4 months.
Potential return date: April 2022
