Aston Villa man on ‘radar’ of Premier League side as ex-defender loses job

Aston Villa ace Emi Martinez has emerged on the radar of another Premier League club as ex-Villa defender Rob Edwards is sacked by Championship side.

Aston Villa are 15th in the Premier League table after the opening seven league games.

Steven Gerrard’s side won their game against Southampton 1-0 before the international break.

They return to the action this weekend away at Leeds United.

Here is a look at the latest news coming out of the club...

Goalkeeper attracting interest

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez is reportedly wanted by Manchester United.

The stopper was linked with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid last week.

According to a report by Football Insider, he has emerged on the ‘radar’ of the Red Devils.

Former Villa man loses job

Former Villa player Rob Edwards has been sacked by Watford.

The ex-defender rose up through the youth ranks at Villa Park and went on to play nine times for their first-team as a youngster.

He landed the top job at Vicarage Road over the summer after winning the League Two title with Forest Green Rovers last term but has lasted just 10 league games in charge of the Hornets.

They have turned to ex-West Ham and West Brom boss Slaven Bilic as his replacement.

Midfielder could make history

Youngster Finn Azaz could make history for Republic of Ireland U21s this evening as they take on Israel.

They could qualify for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship for the first time with a win.

The midfielder is currently on loan at Plymouth Argyle in League One after spending time with Newport County in the fourth tier in the past campaign.
