Aston Villa are reportedly considering a u-turn on a summer transfer window decision, as they mull over whether to bring one of their players back to Villa Park.

Villa are considering whether to recall highly-rated youngter Louis Barry from his loan at Stockport County, according to reports. The 20-year-old has got five goals and one assist in eight league matches this season and is a leading player at Edgeley Park, but his time there could be brought an early end.

TEAMtalk claim that Villa are mulling over whether to recall him and send him out on loan to a higher level than League Two. Barry joined the Manchester-based outfit on a season-long loan, but there is an option for him to return to the Midlands in January.

Should any clubs from the Championship or League One register an interest then Villa could take up that option. Earlier this summer Villa sold Jaden Philogene to Hull City, and Cameron Archer to Sheffield United, and so there is profit to be made on their academy products.

Barry signed a new contract with the club before departing for Stockport County however the duration was not disclosed by Villa. His previous deal was due to expire in the summer of 2024, but now he has security on his contract, and will hopefully return next summer as a potential breakout player.

The Sutton Coldfield-born forward joined from La Liga giants Barcelona in January 2020 for a reported fee of £880,000 however the deal could rise to £3.5m depending on add-ons.
