Aston Villa are hoping to bolster their attacking options as they prepare for Champions League football next term

Italy winger and Euro 2020 winner Federico Chiesa will not be a part of new manager Thiago Motta’s plans at the Juventus stadium next season, according to reports.

Italian sports outlet Calciomercato understands that the 51-time will be sold for a cut-price fee this summer as the Old Lady aims to raise the funds needed for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho.

Chiesa has long been touted as a top target for both Aston Villa and Newcastle United in recent transfer windows and the outlet claims that the former Fiorentina man could be available for as little as £21m this summer.

The 26-year-old is regarded as one of the most exciting talents in Serie A and is renowned for his blistering pace and ability to take on defenders and create chances. Last season he recorded nine goals and two assists in 33 league starts for Juventus, but overall his time in Turin has been hampered by injury concerns with him missing large chunks of both the 2022/23 and 2021/22 seasons.

Chiesa has just one year remaining on his Juventus deal and could be the ideal player to help Unai Emery’s side cope with the demands of playing in an elite European competition. The West Midland’s side already have Moussa Diaby and Leon Bailey on their books, but Chiesa would offer Villa significant Champions League experience, having twice qualified for the knockout stages of the competition.

The winger has also proved that he can perform under high-pressure situations and was named in the Team of the Tournament at Euro 2020 as Italy tasted glory on the European stage for the first time since 1968.

Chiesa has also lifted the Coppa Italia on two separate occasions and was notably the matchwinner in the 2021 final as Juventus triumphed over Atalanta at the Mapei Stadium.

Aston Villa are one of the clubs that are likely to make a move for Chiesa while Premier League rivals Newcastle United are also considering a rival bid, according to Shields Gazette.

Chiesa has proven throughout his career that he can play on either flank and on occasion has also been used as a makeshift centre forward due to his composure in front of goal.  The wideman is thought to be a major target for Newcastle, who are looking to fill the void left by Yankuba Minteh and potentially Miguel Almiron, who has recently become the subject of interest from a number of Saudi Arabian clubs.

Aston Villa have already done plenty of business with Juventus this summer after the signings of winger Samuel Iling-Junior and midfielder Enzo Barrenechea. They also sold popular midfielder Douglas Luiz for a fee of around £50m earlier in the window.
