Aston Villa ‘interested’ in Chelsea swoop, Villans in ‘advanced’ midfielder talks

All the latest transfer news and speculation involving Aston Villa.

With the new Premier League season fast approaching, Aston Villa are reportedly still in the market to recruit a number of new faces.

The Villans have been active already this summer, but will feel that their business is not entirely done at this stage.

That could apply to potential outgoings too, with several players touted for possible exits.

With that in mind, here is Saturday’s Villa-related transfer news...

Villa in Luiz talks

Villa are closing in on a new deal for midfielder Douglas Luiz, according to various reports.

The Brazilian had been at the centre of widespread exit speculation earlier in the summer, but club chiefs have now seemingly enacted something of a U-turn, and are eager to tie him down to a new contract after missing out on a number of key targets.

The Telegraph reported on Friday that Villa were in talks with Luiz, and that the Villans were “hopeful” of getting an agreement over the line.

Football Insider have now reiterated those claims, as well as suggesting that discussions are at an “advanced” stage.

Bournemouth eye Hause

Bournemouth are understood to be interested in signing Villa centre-back Kourtney Hause.

The Cherries are said to be in the market for defensive reinforcements, and Scott Parker has identified the 27-year-old as one potential option, according to talkSPORT.

Alongside Hause, the newly-promoted side are also interested in Liverpool’s Nat Phillips and Manchester United’s Axel Tuanzabe, with Parker ideally hoping to recruit two players to bolster his options at the back.

Villa interested Barkley

Villa are considering a move for Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley, according to the Daily Mail.

The 28-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, and with just a year left on his current contract, it is understood that the Blues are eager to move him on this summer.

Everton had been touted for a potential reunion with their former player, but is claimed that the Toffees will instead focus their attention on signing Billy Gilmour on loan.

As such, the door could be left open for Villa to bring Barkley back to the Midlands following his loan stint at the club in 2020/21.
