Aston Villa ace linked with Serie A switch update emerges on Wolves' chase for Porto star
Euro 2024 has got off to an enthralling start in Germany. England defeated Serbia by a score of 1-0 in their first game of the tournament, with Birmingham City’s former wonderkid Jude Bellingham scoring the only goal of the game - but what have Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers been doing in the meantime?
Serie A reigning champions Inter Milan could make a surprise bid for an Aston Villa defender in the coming weeks, but will only do so if they cannot agree to a new contract with one of their key players. It would be a blow to Villa - the player in question was key for them over the course of last season.

Inter Milan could make bid for Aston Villa star Matty Cash
Matty Cash could be the subject of a bid from Italian giants Inter Milan in the summer transfer window, according to Gianluca Di Marzio. Inter are working to tie one of their star defenders, Denzel Dumfries, down with a new contract at the club. However, if they cannot do so, they will target Cash as a possible replacement for the Dutch international.
Currently, Dumfries is under contract at Inter until the summer of 2025. They are keen to make sure he does not leave on a free transfer in the following year, and thus are working hard to agree terms with him and his agent - as such, Cash can be seen as a contingency plan, rather than one of La Beneamata’s main transfer targets.
Cash was a mainstay in Villa’s starting XI in the 2023/24 season, making 29 Premier League appearances - he scored two goals and notched up two assists along the way. Despite representing Poland on the international stage, he did not travel with the Polish squad to Euro 2024.

Wolves have previously been linked with a move for Porto defender David Carmo. However, according to a recent report from Portuguese outlet A Bola, they are not expected to put forth an official offer for the player any time soon - and the same goes for Leicester City, who are also thought to be in the race.
This does not mean, however, that Wolves will not make an effort to bring Carmo to the club over the course of the summer. Instead, they are more likely to bide their time - any offers they may submit for the player will probably come in the latter stages of the transfer window.
