Aston Villa started their summer transfer window off strong by acquiring Youri Tielemans from the relegated Leicester City and they didn’t have to pay a penny for him. While this was certainly a statement opener for Unai Emery and his side, they haven’t taken their foot off the gas just yet as they pursue other options.

Here are some of the latest updates for Villa as they look ahead to another thrilling season in the Premier League and hope to climb even further up the table.

Villa make offer for 14-goal winger

The Villans have been linked with winger Moussa Diaby and according to L’Equipe, they have now sent an official bid to Bayer Leverkusen as they hope to acquire his services this summer (via Get Football News France).

It has not been specified how much Villa have offered but the player has already been informed by his club that if the right proposal comes in, he will be permitted to leave during this window. Up until the Premier League outfit tabled an offer earlier this week, Leverkusen had received no concrete bids for Diaby.

The 24-year-old contributed 14 goals and 11 assists for the German side last season and he can play in any position across the front three as well as in midfield.

Emery a ‘huge admirer’ of £45m forward

Villa’s interest in Nico Williams has been broadly reported lately and Emery is said to be a ‘huge admirer’ of the 21-year-old talent. That’s according to the Daily Mail, who have reported how the Villa boss feels towards Williams but have also said that it is looking more likely he will stay with Athletic Bilbao this summer.

Williams has a £45 million release clause in his current contract and naturally, following his time in Spain, Emery is familiar with the La Liga market. Whether a move will come to fruition for Villa remains to be seen, but the boss is definitely seems to be fond of Williams.
