Villa have completed a number of signings, including the deadline day captures of Jan Bednarek and Leander Dendoncker.

Though, the pressure is now on for Gerrard and his men to pick up quickly following a disappointing start to the season.

Villa could now be forced into selling Douglas Luiz of a cut-price fee.

Luiz is out of contract next summer, but Villa would not sell him for less than £40million during the summer window.

Arsenal, along with others, were said to have expressed an interest, but they only wanted to pay around £20million.

According to the Express, Luiz actually wanted to sign for Arsenal but he wound up staying.

The report claims Villa could now be forced to sell the midfielder for a fee around the £20million mark in January if they can’t agree a new contract.

Villa’s new loan signing Bednarek chose the Midlands club over West Ham on deadline day.

He told The Independent: “It was an emotional day.

“One minute I am going to West Ham, another minute Villa. There were a lot of conversations with Southampton and all the managers. I ended up at Villa and I’m really happy with the decision. It was a good decision.

“It wasn’t easy because if you have another option you have to take the decision like an adult and this is real life. It was a tough problem but a good problem.

“I’m really happy I have these issues in my life, that I have to choose between two Premier League teams.”
