Aston Villa have already made significant progress on their transfer plans this summer.
Steven Gerrard and the club’s recruitment staff came flying out of the blocks with a number of early signings, incuding Boubacar Kamara and Diego Carlos.
And we could yet see further arrivals by the time the transfer window shuts, with departures also on the agenda.
Gerrard is wasting no time putting his own stamp on his squad this summer, but the pressure will be on for him to improve on Villa’s 14th place finish of last season as a result.
That makes it all the more important for the former Rangers boss to get it right with his squad ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
And as Gerrard continues with his work behind the scenes, we have rounded up all the latest Villa transfer news and rumours:
Villa have been tipped to lose young star Carney Chukwuemeka this summer, but there is some good news.
The 18-year-old is thought ot be one of the brightest young talents in Engliish football, and it’s no surprise to hear of him attracting interest.
But according to Sport1s Patrick Berger, Borussia Dortmund, who have been heavily linked with a move, are not close to pulling off a deal, despite reports.
That will be music to the ears of Villa fans, who will be desperate to see the best of Chukwuemeka in a Lions shirt for years to come.
Villa are said to be standing firm over Douglas Luiz amid intense interest this summer.
Luiz could well be offloaded a year before his contract expires, but Villa are not interested in losing him on the cheap.
According to UOL via SportWitness, the Lions won’t allow the midfielder to leave for any less than their value of £30.1million.
The report comes amid talk of interest from a number of clubs, with AC Milan said to be the most interested.
