Aston Villa group stage opponents confirmed after UEFA Europa Conference League draw

Aston Villa will play AZ Alkmaar, Legia Warsaw and HSK Zrinjski in Group E of the 2023/24 UEFA Europa Conference League, it was confirmed after the draw took place in Monaco on Friday afternoon.

Unai Emery’s side secured their place in the competition after an 8-0 aggregate victory over Scottish Premiership side Hibernian and will now be looking forward to more European away days.

Trips to the Netherlands, Poland and Bosnia & Herzegovina await as the Villans travel to the cities of Alkmaar, Warsaw and Mostar respectively in a bid to make it through to the knockout stages.

There are eight groups in total, with four teams in each, making a total of 32 clubs. Sides in each group will place one another twice, once at home and once away. Here’s how the full draw unfolded.

  • Group D: Club Brugge, Bodø/Glimt, Besiktas, Lugano.
  • Group E: AZ Alkmaar, Aston Villa, Legia Warsaw, HSK Zrinjski.
