Aston Villa’s form under new manager Unai Emery has seriously improved and they are on to finish off their season with a very respectable final standing. They are currently eighth in the Premier League table and could finish as high as sixth, thanks to their recent positive run.

Wolves are much further down the table in 13th, but comfortably safe away from any potential relegation risk. And while there might be quite a gap between the two Midlands sides, both are eager to get involved in some transfer business this summer.

The two are both linked to potential incomings but some key players are also said to be looking at moves away. Here is a round up of the latest transfer talk for both Aston Villa and Wolves.

Aston Villa to ‘back Emery’ in transfer market pursuits

Aston Villa could be in for a fruitful transfer window as the club are prepared to support Emery and his player pursuits. Ryan Taylor of the Daily Express has dropped some very positive sounding news for Villa fans as they look ahead to the end of what has been a rather strong season.

“I think all the noises that we’ve seen in the past few weeks really indicate that Aston Villa are going to try and seize the day,” he told GiveMeSport. “We’ve seen what improvements they’ve made under Emery and they’re going to, seemingly not throw money at it, but back Emery because they feel like they’ve got a top-level manager.”

Key Villa man wants to leave to join ‘top club’

Emiliano Martinez wants to leave Aston Villa this summer for a new challenge with a “top club.” That’s according to Football Insider, who report that the shot-stopper wants to play at a higher level and push for silverware after winning the World Cup with Argentina last year.

Martinez has already been linked with some other Premier League outfits, with Chelsea being one of them. Incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino will reportedly make signing a new goalkeeper his priority this summer, and Villa’s man is on his shortlist.

Wolves interested in Serie A midfielder

Wolves are said to be interested in Mali international Lassana Coulibaly and have enquired about more information on the midfielder. According to Le Cronache (via Salerno Notizie), the Wanderers are keen but it is unclear whether an official offer has been made.

Coulibaly, who currently plays for Salernitana in Serie A, would command a £7 million transfer fee if he was to move this summer. The 27-year-old is a more defensive midfielder but he has contributed three goals and two assists for his side this season. Wolves could be lining up a replacement for Rúben Neves, who has attracted a lot of interest recently and could be looking at a Molineux exit.
